Le Corbusier
Le Corbusier was the greatest titan of modern architecture and a pioneer of urban planning in the 20th century. As a leading figure of the Modern Architecture movement, he was the first to propose that 'the house is a machine for living in,' completely shattering the complex shackles of traditional classical design. Strikingly utilizing novel industrial materials like reinforced concrete, he formulated the revolutionary 'Five Points of Architecture'—such as pilotis, ribbon windows, and roof gardens—perfectly balancing pure functionality with geometric beauty. From his classic private residential masterpiece, 'Villa Savoye,' to the 'Unité d'Habitation,' which set the template for modern apartment buildings, a total of 17 of his architectural projects have been collectively inscribed onto the UNESCO World Heritage List. His designs not only reshaped global city skylines but also permanently laid the foundation for modern human lifestyles.
