"Alta" chaise longue and ottoman, designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1971 with his daughter Anna Maria Niemeyer, for Mobilier International. Niemeyer conceived the set for the headquarters of the French Communist Party in Paris. Curved steel bands form a ribbon-like frame, carrying the seat and backrest. The incline of both can be adjusted, giving the chair a spring-like give. The upholstery is tufted in a geometric pattern, echoing Niemeyer's architectural language.
